What is a "room" and how to use it

Last Updated: Aug 25, 2017 04:20AM UTC
What is a “room”?
“Rooms” enable translators to create interactive communities where individuals can exchange their thoughts and ideas. They are spaces for small group communication where translators who share common interests can discuss diverse topics.

Which topics can be discussed within rooms?
Any. Conyac encourages you to choose whichever topic you find interesting and create your own room.

Who can create and moderate a room?
Any translator can create a new room. They can also assign new admins for their rooms.

Who can join a room?
Some rooms are private and their content is only visible to their members. To access those, you will need to request access or be invited by current members. It is also possible to create a ‘secret’ room that is only visible to translators who are invited to join. Admin of each room decide who can or cannot join their discussion.

What can admins do?
They can create and edit room profiles, as well as manage users and their roles within the room (assign new admins). Admins can also flag conversations as inappropriate or report users that violate internet ethics to the Conyac Team.

Is content of the room moderated?
Conyac Team will not moderate rooms that are created by translators. Admins can moderate the rooms independently. However, if admins detect violation of internet ethics, they can report inappropriate posts to the Conyac Team.
